About Us

Ben Gernatt, Owner/Operator

With more than twenty years of experience in pest control, I began as a part-time residential pest control apprentice. I quickly moved into a full-time position and then became a commercial applicator. Eventually, I grew into an inspection and sales role, working for two large pest control companies in Western New York.

I am NYSDEC certified 7A (control of rodents, roaches, ants, fleas, ticks, and stinging and biting insects within or associated with structures) and 7F (treating areas, other than individual residences, where exposed food or food products are prepared, packaged or held for further distribution or consumption, including the use of fumigants to control appropriate food pests).

In 2025, I started my own firm — Gernatt Pest Solutions. Now I can provide state-of-the-art services to both homes and businesses at a reasonable price. Lower overhead allows me to pass along the savings to my clients.

Frequently Asked Questions

What pests do you deal with?

Gernatt Pest Solutions specializes in: wasps, hornets, bees (we relocate honey bees whenever possible), ants, mosquitoes, ticks, pantry pests, bed bugs, cockroaches, and rodents. We offer exclusion work (sealing pests out), non-lethal bat removal & evacuation work, and nuisance wildlife control.

What methods do you use to solve the problem?

Gernatt Pest Solutions offers both chemical and non-chemical solutions. Chemical applications are often used to repel and prevent pest activity. In some cases, chemicals are used for elimination.

We also offer eco-friendly applications such as super-concentrated essential oils, various traps, and the use of pheromones to repel or attract specific pests.

Are your chemicals safe for people and pets?

Yes! The chemical products we work with are safe to be around once they’ve dried thoroughly.

Do you work indoors and outdoors?

We sure do! The majority of our seasonal work (bees, wasps, hornets, ants, and spiders) is done outside of the building but indoor treatments are often required as well.

Rodent protection is also mostly done outside but some interior check measures are always recommended.

How many treatments are required?

The number of treatments depends on the pest and the severity of the infestation.

  • Stinging insect nests (e.g., wasps or hornets) — a single treatment is all it takes
  • Ants — one to three treatments, depending upon several factors
  • Rodents — typically three to five treatments, more if situated in an area with high rodent activity
  • Bed bugs & Cockroaches — generally two to three treatments are required
