What bed bugs are

Bed bugs are flat, reddish-brown, wingless insects about 1 to 7 mm long. They hide in mattress seams, bed frames and cracks, and they spread in luggage and furniture.

Bites alone don't confirm bed bugs, because other insects and skin conditions can look the same. Finding the bugs, their skins or their spots does.
