Which stinging insect is nesting near you?
- Paper wasps build open, umbrella-shaped nests under eaves, railings and grills.
- Yellowjackets usually nest in the ground or inside walls, and they get defensive in late summer.
- Bald-faced hornets build large, enclosed gray paper nests in trees and shrubs.

When to call a professional
Consider calling if the nest is in the ground, inside a wall or high up; if it's a hornet or yellowjacket nest near a door, deck or play area; or if someone in the home has a sting allergy. Don't pour gasoline on a nest or burn it, and don't block the entrance of a wall nest. Yellowjackets can chew through interior drywall into your home.
What we do
We clear the nest and treat so you can enjoy your yard again. We treat the nest first, then take down visible nests on a follow-up visit once activity has stopped. We handle all stinging insects, including nests in the ground, inside walls, in attics and up high.

Honeybees are different
Honeybees are valuable pollinators. A swarm usually moves on within a day or two, and a local beekeeper may be glad to collect it. If it's honeybees, we'll refer you to a local beekeeper.
Allergies
If anyone has trouble breathing, swelling of the face or throat, or feels faint after a sting, seek medical care right away.
